ILZSG revises 2019 lead market surplus forecast to 46,000 mt deficit

London—The International Lead & Zinc Study Group expects global demand for refined lead metal to exceed supply by 46,000 mt in 2019, revising its previous prediction of a 71,000 mt surplus on the back of “lower than expected lead metal output in Argentina, Australia, Canada and China”, ILZSG said Monday. For 2020, the group forecast a supply surplus of 55,000 mt. In 2018, the lead market was in deficit by 98,000 mt, according to ILZSG data in February.
