US officials have issued a warning to energy companies after a US-based natural gas company was recently forced to shut down a pipeline for two days following a ransomware attack. In an alert issued Tuesday, the US Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) said the ransomware infection stopped personnel from receiving real-time operational data from a compressor station. CISA said that “at no time did the threat actor obtain the ability to control or manipulate operations."
