Hindustan Zinc Q1 results: Reports 23% fall in net profit

Vedanta Group company, Hindustan Zinc has reported a 23% fall in net profit for the first quarter of FY21 at Rs 1,359 crore as against Rs 1,765 crore in the same quarter last year. Company also announced that Arun Misra will take over from Sunil Duggal as CEO from August 1st. Commenting on the performance, HZL CEO Sunil Duggal said, "Our strong performance during these difficult times demonstrates the spirit and resilience of our people, who transformed a crisis into an opportunity. The company's mined and refined metal production stood at 202 kt and saleable silver production was 117 mt. "Mined metal production was down by 5% for the quarter, due to fewer days of production in April and lower workforce availability on account of restrictions related to Covid-19," the company said in a statement.
