Efforts by Luxi Chemical to raise urea prices to RMB 1,990/mt ($313/mt) EXW May 1 did so far not result in sales as mainstream quotes in northern provinces held stable at RMB 1,880-1,940/mt ($296-305/mt) EXW. The low end in Shanxi was also stable week on week at RMB 1,820/mt ($286/mt) FCA. Views on forward pricing still differ, but suggestions from some major suppliers are that relatively tight supply and continued demand from the industrial sector will support further increases in the short term. Industrial demand is expected to taper off as May progresses, and some producers in Hebei and Shanxi were already indicating forward availability some RMB 20/mt ($3/mt) below other offers as demand slowed over the May 1 holidays.
