However, the attention of medical oncologists has been usually focused on the reduced chemosensitivity that characterises these tumors, as opposed to the more frequent infiltrating ductal histology.5'6 One of the possible interpretations of this observation is the fact that lobu-lar cancers express hormone receptors more frequently and at higher levels than ductal cancers and that the proportion of slowly proliferating tumors is larger in lobular than in ductal cancers.4 These features are interpreted as markers of high endocrine-responsiveness and of reduced chemosensitivity.
