China’s Imports Hit New Record

China’s crude imports in October spiked by 11.5% year-on-year, or 1.11 million b/d, to a new record of 10.76 million b/d, in a month when refinery turnarounds were relatively limited, according to Chinese customs data. The strong growth in China’s imports means that the world’s most important crude importer continues to be a key driver of global crude demand growth (IOD Oct.15’19).
