After years of debate and periodic patch-ups, the North Sea Dated benchmark, used as the basis for two-thirds of global crude trade, is on the cusp of a radical change. The potential for change comes amid a wider shake-up affecting benchmarks, as shifting global trade patterns mean traders have to take account of different pricing markers when buying and selling their crude. This is heightening the need for robust benchmarks that accurately reflect regional fundamentals.
