Ferroalloy producer Eramet is contemplating ending output of nickel matte in New Caledonia andproducing more ferronickel alloy instead.Nickel matte is a semi-finished product processed at the company's Sandouville plant in France, andaccounts for a very small share of production at Societe Le Nickel (SLN), the French group said.If the switch is made, SLN's financial performance would be significantly bolstered and Sandouville'smatte requirements could be sourced from another producer, it added.
