TISCO / Shanxi - China Is Ranked As World Largest Producer Of Stainless Steel In 2009- Chinese Enterprise Has Become Largest Producer As First Case

Taiyuan Iron & Steel ( Group ) Co., Ltd. ( TISCO ) in Shanxi Province of China has jumped to the world largest producer of stainless steel ( plates and sheets ) in 2009. This is the first case that a Chinese enterprise has become the largest producer of stainless steel in the world. According to the report released on the 6th of April by SMR ( Steel & Metals Market Research ), based on Reutte of Austria, TISCO produced 2.16 million tons of stainless steel plates and sheets in 2009, which had a considerable increase of 35% compared with that ( 1.60 million tons ) in 2008 and pushed up this Chinese enterprise to the world largest producer of stainless steel in 2009.
