Taipower's Term Contracts Account For 86% Of Total In 2009

According to Taiwan Power Co. (Taipower) of Taiwan, out of coal procured in 2009, that procured by term contracts accounted for 86 percent of the total. Since its percentage of term contracts remained 78 percent in 2007 and 82 percent in 2008, its percentage of procurements by term contracts became largest in 2009. The increase on procurements by term contracts can be ascribed to overall downfall in coal consumption affected by global economical slump leading to a decrease in procurements by spot contracts.
