In 2014 the RPS published the seminal guide to the pharmaceutical sciences, New Medicines, Better Medicines, Better Use of Medicines. Part of the document focused on stimulating new antimicrobial development and improving antimicrobial stewardship. The RPS has continued to lead public debate on antimicrobial resistance across Great Britain. A joint summit for pharmacists, doctors and nurses was held at the RPS to look at how antimicrobial use could be optimised. An event was held in the Scottish Parliament on European Antibiotic Awareness Day in November, which led to a debate in Parliament itself. In Wales we have also worked jointly with the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and Royal College of Nursing (RCN) to raise awareness of this issue amongst Welsh Government Assembly Members.
