摘要

I am writing on behalf of the HIV Pharmacy Association regarding the News item "Raltegravir alternative to efavirenz for HIV patients" (PJ, 8 August 2009, pl47). It reports on an editorial published in The Lancet. The editorial quoted is based on expert opinion, and suggests potential future use of raltegravir in pregnancy. It is important to note there are no published data regarding the use of raltegravir in pregnancy. The current summary of product characteristics states it should not be used and that animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity.
