Following a spate of recent price rises, it now appears that the European rally has, at least for the time being, run out of steam. Having nudged its way up to 18 dollars/lb and at times higher, oxide has slipped back to around 17.25 dollars/lb. FeMo has also seen a drop. Having breached 44 dollars/kg for small parcels last week, it has returned to a 43.00-43.50 dollars/kg range. US prices, meanwhile, have been showing an altogether different trend. Having spent much of March in a 18.50-19.00 dollars/lb range, the start of April saw FeMo prices creep towards to 20 dollars/lb and by the middle of this week the range had moved to 20-20.5 dollars/lb. Supply is still tight, with signs of continued improvements in demand helping to bolster prices. US oxide has also seen an improvement, rising to 16-17 dollars/lb from 16.75 dollars a week ago.
