In this prospective randomized trial Simonato et al investigated the prevention of lymphoceles following extraperitoneal radical prostatectomy with simultaneous pelvic lymphadenectomy. This is an issue that is still underrepresented in the current literature, although symptomatic lymphoceles due to PLA exhibit as a frequent complication with possible serious sequelae (reference 5 in article). Thus, the primary finding of the presented study, that the incidence of asymptomatic and symptomatic lymphoceles can be reduced by topical application of a fibrin sealant in combination with electrocoagulation and vessel clips (30, group 1) compared to the use of electrocoagulation and vessel clips alone (30, group 2), is an innovative and valuable contribution to the existing literature.
