These authors present a retrospective series of 88 patients evaluated by gadolinium enhanced MRU to detect upper urinary tract tumors. Despite having no objective criteria to apply the 2 independent reviewers identified upper tract urinary malignancies with reasonable sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. These authors emphasize that this modality is accurate but does not replace or surpass CTU to detect upper urinary tract malignancy. Clearly they indicate that this technology has a role in managing upper urinary tract malignancy in patients who cannot undergo CTU. Also, the authors carefully defined their MRU technique and in a previous study reported the importance of proper technique (reference 14 in article).
