Despite pressure from consumers, Chinese suppliers withdrew offers of around 77 dollars/kg for FeMo, instead raising prices by around a dollar before the Lunar New Year holiday. With duty added, prices in this region are far from competitive. While this indicates that China's export restrictions may indeed be having an effect on the overall market, it is still too early to call at this point in the year. However, this should, in theory, prompt a significant drop in uptake of Chinese material in the West. Although until a significant amount of new material comes on stream from future projects, many countries' reliance on Chinese material is set to persist.
