Large-leaved exotics, such as bananas, cannas and ginger lilies, are incredibly exciting plants, as they instantly liven up any garden. As well as having huge leaves, their growth rate in summer can be staggering, and sometimes you can almost see themsprouting up in front of your very eyes. They are all pretty easy to grow, too, although their exact degree of hardiness and the amount of protection they need in winter will depend upon which varieties you pick and where you live. These types of plantshave become extremely popular in recent years, as we are all travelling more and getting the chance to see them growing in their natural habitats, inspired by what we've seen abroad, many of us choose to grow exotics at home for that holiday feel. We are also experimenting more and, with our milder winters, becoming increasingly confident about using exotics in our gardens.
