Prices were flat to $5/mt higher week on week Wednesday on expectations of higher demand from China and India during planned turnarounds. Current spot market activity was thin as January discussions were concluded and market participants were awaiting the emergence of February offers. Producers were optimistic that demand would pick up from China and India over late January and February. A producer said domestic PVC plants in China faced government pressure to either reduce or cease production to help reduce pollution in the country.
