BP will increase the base price for US purified terephthalic acid by 3 cents/lb in April, market sources said this week. The formula-derived monthly US PTA price comes from a BP formula as the company constitutes the largest supplier in the US, per market feedback. BP declined to comment on pricing. BP has a PTA capacity of 1.3 million mt/year at the Cooper River, South Carolina, plant and 1 million mt/year at the Decatur, Alabama, site, according to Platts data.
