High density polyethylene prices in South America were mostly stable on the week, with some slight declines seen on the West Coast despite an overall drop in the number of offers to the region. In Peru, pricing for film and blowmolding was down while injection was flat. Film fell $10/mt to $1,495-$1,505/mt CFR basis and blowmolding was down $20/mt to $1,445-$1,455/mt CFR basis. Injection was stable at $1,455-$1,465/mt CFR basis. Offers for US-origin HDPE were talked from the mid-1400s to low $1500’s, but market participants indicated that offers from the US were more scarce. “We are missing the usual US offers for the week,” a Peru-based buyer said. US-origin material has remained the most competitive in terms of pricing and delivery terms according to sources, however some offer levels have been heard surpassing those for Asiaorigin material, which was heard in the low 1500’s.
