Northwest European and UK bottle-grade spot prices fell for the third consecutive week on weaker demand. The NWE spot price eased Eur10/mt on the week to be assessed at Eur1,070/mt FD NWE Wednesday. Demand has been slow, amid high stock levels at converters. “Demand is very weak, so bookings are very low. Consumers are sitting on well priced stocks,” a trader based in continental Europe said. A converter said prices will depend on stock levels. The range heard for the NWE spot price fell to Eur1,040-1,080/mt, as some buyers negotiated lower deals. However, deals were only heard done in small quantities, suggesting hand-to-mouth business. “[A] converter will only buy as required for production and not to stock,” a producer said.
