Offers to North Africa increased in number from last week preventing further price rises, trade sources said. North African prices were assessed at $1,400/mt CFR North Africa, flat on the week. The number of offers from Asia increased. “Asia pricing is down and Chinese market demand is not that great,” one trade source said. The Asian polypropylene market had been lower this week, tracking falls in feedstock propylene in the region. The steepest fall was in Southeast Asia, with PP raffia falling $20 on the week to $1,355/mt CFR Wednesday. Raffia grade was also down $10 on the week to $1,270/mt CFR Far East Asia, and fell $15 to $1,380/mt CFR South Asia. Offers had been heard from the Middle East despite a feeling the region was still rebuilding inventories following recent supply constraints. Europe continued to experience tightened supply on production issues, limiting offers to North Africa.
