The formula-derived October US purified terephthalic acid price was set at 42.79 cents/lb ($943/mt), down 0.8 cent/lb from September, multiple market sources said Friday. The October drop extends the downward trend in the North American market, with prices down 7.5 cents/lb since July prices were set at 50.29 cents/lb. The PTA settlement came after the October US paraxylene contracts were heard settled 1 cent lower at 42 cents/lb.
