Asian styrene monomer rose $4/mt day on day and jumped $24/mt week on week to be assessed at $964.50/ mt FOB Korea and $989.50/mt CFR China Friday amid firmer upstream benzene and crude oil and steady buying interest ahead of turnarounds. Up to six of the eight SM plants in South Korea are scheduled to shut for maintenance over March-June, equating to 76% of the country’s total production capacity.
