Asian PVC prices swung between gains and losses this week amid differing fundamentals in regional markets. PVC on a CFR China basis was assessed at $1,065/mt Wednesday, down $5/mt week on week amid resistance to major Taiwanese producer Formosa Plastics hiking its March offer prices last week. Formosa raised its offers for March-loading PVC to $1,090/mt CFR China, up $70/mt from February; $1,090/mt CFR Southeast Asia, up $70/mt; and $1,100/mt CFR India, up $50/mt, a company source said. Formosa expects to sell 90% of its March volume of 55,000 mt, a company source said, while market sources said it was likely to sell only 60% due to the high prices.
