Asian butadiene prices were flat to higher Friday as buyers sought prompt cargoes but were reluctant to accept higher prices for back-month cargoes. The FOB Korea marker rose $90/mt week on week to $1,690/mt while CFR China prices stood at $1,690/mt for a second week running. Early in the week, a trader said bids hovered at $1,740/mt CFR China but noted there was stronger interest for mid-November loading cargoes over late November parcels and no interest for December cargoes. Among the factors for the weak CFR China buying interest was the expected arrival of deepsea cargoes from Europe and the US, estimated to total at least 25,000 mt.
