Asian high density polyethylene prices were mixed this week, with HDPE-film assessed at $1,485/mt CFR Far East Asia Wednesday, down $15/mt week on week, at $1,510/ mt CFR Southeast Asia, down $20/mt week on week, and at $1,520/mt CFR South Asia, up $10/mt over the same period. Market activity weakened this week amid falling crude as Italy's political gridlock reawakened market concerns of further economic distress in Europe. One Middle Eastern producer placed several offers at the end of last week and early this week. Late last week it offered at $1,540/ mt CFR China, which it lowered this week to $1,520/mt CFR China due to poor demand, and sold all its cargoes.
