The Brazilian high-density polyethylene injection price was stable week on week, assessed Wednesday at $1,570-$1,580/ mt CFR Brazil. An US-origin offer was heard at $1,600/mt CFR Brazil for delivery in late April. A Chinese re-export offer was heard as low as $1,510/mt CFR Brazil, indicating a downward movement in the market, although it was not used as part of the assessment process because the delivery time did not meet Platts methodology standards for polyethylene products. “As the market is falling in China, producers need to get rid of material before the prices start to fall even more,” a Brazilian trader said, adding that China is re-exporting material to Latin America.
