US high density polyethylene spot prices were slightly firmer this week, with continued tightness for some grades and generally low buy interest in export markets giving sellers little incentive to reduce asking prices, sources said. Spot HDPE blow molding was assessed Wednesday at $1,532/ mt FAS Houston, up $11/mt week on week, with sources noting that it could still be difficult to find spot parcels. Bulk railcar prices were pegged in the 66-68 cents/lb range by market players, with an offer to Peru heard at $1,620 CFR.
