Kinder Morgan acquires midstream Copano

Washington-In a move that will greatly expand its footprint in the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas, Kinder Morgan Energy Part- ners will buy midstream gas company Copano Energy for $5 billion, the Houston companies said in a joint statement. In addition to acquiring all of the outstand- ing units of Copano, a publicly-traded limited liability company, KMP will assume 100% ownership of Eagle Ford Gathering, currently a joint venture with Copano that provides gath- ering, transportation and processing services to Eagle Ford producers.
