Iraq, KRG agree Kurdish crude export deal

Baghdad—The Kurdistan Regional Government and the central government in Baghdad have agreed to restart payments to foreign oil companies and increase output from the semi-autonomous Kurdish region, a source close to the talks told Platts September 13. KRG Minister of Natural Resources Ashti Hawrami and Iraqi Oil Minister Abdul Karim Luaibi were signatories to an agreement whereby Baghdad will restart payments for crude exported from the region. In exchange, the KRG agreed to ramp up exports to 200,000 b/d, the source said.
