Macondo litigants debate fate of failed BoP

Washington-The blowout preventer that sat atop the doomed Macondo well should remain in government custody and not be returned to Transocean, BP said in a court filing June 24. US District Judge Carl Barbier must decide what should happen to the BOP, now that investigators have finished testing it. Hurricane season also is forcing a decision, because independent investigators say the temporary building that houses the BOP would not withstand a strong storm.
