PGNIG ups the ante on Poland's gas shale

London-As activity in the Polish shale gas exploration sector continues to intensify, with experts predicting the start of commercial production possibly within five years, PGNiG, Poland's majority state-owned gas producer, has been somewhat forgotten amid the hype surrounding the foreign shale invasion. In an effort to keep up with the hefty investment being ploughed into Poland's gas shale sector by the likes of ExxonMobil, Chevron, Total, Italy's Eni and others, PGNiG has conceded it may need to sell more shares on the stock exchange to fund its upstream work, including a good chunk in shale gas.
