New York-New York Mercantile Exchange November crude futures settled 40 cents higher at $85.81/b October 11, turning slightly bullish on a jump in RBOB futures. November RBOB settled 5.23 cents higher at $2.7476/gal, while heating oil gained just 2 points to settle at $2.9041/gal. ICE November Brent settled $1.78 higher at $110.73/b. One analyst attributed the RBOB rally to rumors of refinery problems on the US Atlantic Coast, home of the New York delivery point for RBOB.
