Qatar has no plans to hike natural gas output: minister

Doha-Qatar's oil minister Abdullah al-Attiyah said January 12 the natural gas-rich emirate has no plans to increase production from its massive North field, and a moratorium on further development will remain in place until 2014. That effectively means a rejection of a request from the UAE's Dolphin Energy for additional gas. "We are currently undertaking a detailed study of the North field and we have no plans to increase production until this study is over in 2014," Attiyah said when asked to comment on Dolphin's request for an additional 1 Bcf/d of Qatari gas.
