Norway approves extended lifespan for Varg oil field

Copenhagen-Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has granted oil and gas explorer Talisman Energy permission to extend the use of facilities on the Varg oil field in the Norwegian North Sea significantly beyond their original design life, the agency said October 5. The PSA said the consent applied to use of the wellhead facility Varg A, risers, pipelines and subsea systems connecting Varg A to the FPSO Petrojarl Varg until 2021, and use of Petrojarl Varg itself until 2013.
