Acouple of years ago, Canada was swarming with plans for LNG regasification terminals that were seen by economic and gas industry mavens, not least former US Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, as the desperately needed answer to a looming continental supply crunch. Then came the shale gas revolution, which has left most of the 10 projects at the starting gate. One is up and running, one has been converted to an LNG export venture and the rest have either been abandoned, or entered a “calm period.”
