Cape Town-The US’ Anadarko Petroleum has made an oil discovery offshore Mozambique, the first-ever find offshore East Africa, at its Ironclad prospect, Mozambique’s National Oil Institute, the INP, said August 17. “The Ironclad well drilled by Anadarko encountered oil shows which are the first documented occurrence of liquid hydrocarbons in deepwater offshore East Africa,” INP Exploration Manager Carlos Zacarias told Platts.
