IEA slashes estimates for world oil demand

London-The International Energy Agency January 16 cut its estimates of world oil demand this year as a result of a more pessimistic assessment of the global economy, and now expects oil consumption to decline in overall terms. In its latest monthly oil market report, the IEA reduced its estimate of world oil demand in 2009 to 85.26 million b/d, 940,000 b/d less than its previous forecast.
