First production from the A250-mil Basker Manta oil project in the Gippsland basin off the southeastern australian State of Victoria is expected in October,participants Anzon Australia and Beach Petroleum said Aug 15.The Basker-2 appraisal well,spudded over the weekend,is expected to begin producing,initially on test at up to 8,000 b/d.The well is the first of at least four palnned subsea production wells to be drilled by the Baser Manta joint venture.
