Northern Lights seek OK for oil upgrader

Calgary-The Northern Lights Partnership,comprised of Calgary-based Synenco Energy and China's Sinopec,Wednesday said it was seeking regulatory approval for an upgrader complex to process up to 100.000 b/d of bitumen from its planned oil sands project in Alberta.In an application filed Wednesday,Northern Lights proposed constructing an upgrader to convert bitumen into synthetic crude 25 miles northeast of Edmonton.Northern Lights' major project application for its mining and extraction operations in northeastern Alberta is on track for filing in mid-2006,said Synenco,the 60% managing partner,in a statememt.
