Primary aluminium demand in the USA is showing some signs of life. Modest restocking at distributors suggests that underlying demand is improving and firm activity in the automotive sector in particular continues to drive demand for aluminium products. Meanwhile, the shortage of scrap continues to provide some support to primary demand. We expect demand to continue to grow in Q2 although volumes will remain relatively low.
