Brazil looks to be heading for a poor sugarcane harvest for the third consecutive year, and as a result it will likely have to import more ethanol to fuel vehicles. Unica, Brazil's sugarcane industry trade association, has lowered its predictions for the 2011-12 harvest in south-central Brazil by 4% from its last forecast, made in August. The group now expects growers to harvest 488.5 million tons, as compared to the previous forecast of 510.24 million tons.
