The major difficulty in the medium term is powersupply. Very few metals facilities were directly affected by the earthquake and tsunami. The facilities that have been suspended are mostly off line because of an electricity shortage, with rolling power outages being imposed on most of the country. "The problem is the power issues, with the nuclear situation and the ongoing power cuts,' said an aluminium trader. "[The earthquake] is only bullish for metals if they can sort out the power issues."
