APHIS biotech unit seeks volunteers for NEPA pilot project

USDA'S Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is soliciting letters of interest from companies, academic institutions and other entities subject to its biotech regulations, to participate in a pilot project involving the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). A 1970 law that requires agencies to examine the environmental impact of major regulatory decisions, NEPA has figured prominently in recent lawsuits against Roundup Ready alfalfa and sugar beets (see FCN Dec. 17, Page 5).
