Potash prices stable but face further pressure

Potash prices are assessed stable this week in all global markets except for port wholesale product in China, though spot price pressure is continuing to build as negotiations over the new Chinese and Indian contracts drag on. In both Brazil and Southeast Asia, sources continue to suggest that potash suppliers are willing to submit to lower prices rather than risk losing market share. Prices for gMOP in Brazil remain at $220-230/mt CFR while those for sMOP in the latter retain the wide range of $210-260/mt CFR. But further decreases are likely to be seen until the settlement of the Chinese and Indian contracts, which suppliers hope will provide stability to global spot markets.
