The assessment for spot Canadian barge exports of sulphur was lowered to $65-75/mt FOB Vancouver from $70-80/mt. As delivered prices across the globe have fallen, sellers out of Vancouver have avoided spot sales where possible and focused on contractual commitments, which are believed to net back to similar or even lower levels. For example, contracts to Brazil for Q3 were mostly in the $75-80/mt CFR range from all sources. With freights from Vancouver to Brazil at $17-19/mt, this suggests netbacks in the high $50s/mt or at best low $60s/mt FOB.
