'THIS PROBABLY won't cause an immediate impact on overall trade with China,but opens the door to further strengthening of the renminbi,'says Kevin Swift,senior director of economics and statistics,American Chemistry Council(ACC).The upward revaluation of the renminbi makes Chinese-made goods more expensive in other markets.This would lead to higher prices for importers of Chinese products,but for trade denominated in dollars,an appreciating renminbi lowers the price of goods exported to China.
