Four contractors are battling for a US $4 Bn con- tract to expand the Nord Stream gas pipeline, according to reports. The four main players in the bidding process are Italy’s Saipem, France’s Technip, Switzerland’s Allseas and Netherlands-based Royal IHC. They are bidding for the right to secure the contract to build the second part of the pipeline, which transports Russian gas to Germany via the Baltic Sea, Russia’s Kommersant reported.
