As China's oversupplied natural gas market awaits pricing action from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the industrial city of Yangzhou in the eastern Jiangsu province has taken matters into its own hands by cutting retail natural gas prices by 5% (IOD Jul.31'15). Yangzhou reduced its non-residential gas price ceiling to 4,370 yuan ($702.60) per thousand cubic meters from 4,600 yuan/Mcm with effect from Jul. 28, in what looks like an attempt to boost the competitiveness of its factories. Fuel prices for natural gas vehicles are included in the cuts.
